Acts 22:3-16

Psalm 117

Mark 16:15-18

Today we celebrate the most significant evangelizer of all time – St. Paul. The story of St. Paul is incredibly powerful. St. Paul traveled an estimated 10,000 miles…by foot, to spread the gospel. To put that in perspective, it would be like walking from New York to Los Angeles about 4 times. Wow! Why would someone do that? Think about that for a minute. 10,000 miles in the name of the gospel.

Now here is a man who, in the name of God, did his very best to eliminate Christians. He was there when St. Stephen was stoned, and encouraged it. Looking at what he was doing through the eyes of a strict Jew who studied scripture extensively, St. Paul truly believed he was doing exactly what God had called him to do.

St. Paul came to know that he was wrong, and not a little wrong, he came to realize he was so wrong that he was completely blind to what God was truly calling him to do. We can all be thankful that on the day that God called St. Paul that Paul answered. God revealed to St. Paul in no uncertain terms that there was something much bigger that God wanted him to do. And St. Paul physically paid the price for saying “Yes” to God. We see in 2 Corinthians 11 that St. Paul was beaten with rods, whipped, stoned, shipwrecked, in danger from rivers wilderness, and the sea…and yet he kept going.

We owe a great debt to St. Paul for his “Yes”. Today, tell St. Paul “Thank you!”. And then guess what, know that you are called to the same evangelization. You likely will not be physically tortured, but you will certainly be challenged along the way. Say “Yes” anyway. Go with the confidence that God is right there with you, as is our Holy Mother and the great Saints like St. Paul. Have courage! So who is it, who is God calling you to today? Got get ‘em!!!!

Give God your prayer today with a great big smile!
