Entrance Procession

Opening Prayer

Almighty ever-living God,

who as an example of humility for the human race to follow caused our Savior to take flesh and submit to the Cross,

graciously grant that

we may heed his lesson of patient suffering

and so merit a share in his Resurrection.

Who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.  Amen

Prayers of the Faithful

Our Lord gave his back to those who beat him, and he did not shield his face from buffets and spitting. Pray with me for courage to trust in his passionate love for us.

  • For our pope and our bishops, that they may be faithful to the truth even in the face of persecution and rejection, we pray to the Lord.

  • For those who struggle with their faith, by God's grace may they be renewed in faith and hope, we pray to the Lord.

  • For those sick, may Jesus, the Divine Physician, offer them hope and healing,  we pray to the Lord.

  • That the love of God, shown to us in Jesus Christ, may give us confidence and courage in all things, let us pray to the Lord.

  • For the intentions that we quietly ask at this time, we pray to the Lord

  • For all who have died marked with the sign of faith, may they come to share in the fullness of eternal life in the risen Christ, we pray to the Lord.

Almighty God, the suffering and death of your Son Jesus Christ brought hope and healing to a fallen world. May sin never ensnare us with empty hope in the passing world. We ask this through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Closing Prayer

Look, we pray,

O Lord,

on this your family,
for whom our Lord Jesus Christ

did not hesitate to be delivered into the hands of the wicked

and submit to the agony

of the Cross.
Who lives and reigns

for ever and ever.  Amen
